The loss of imagination November 16, 2006

As I’ve gotten older I’ve begun to realize all the things that begin to happen to your physical body as we age. We get more aches and pains. Some of use loose our hair or it turns grey. Our bodies begin to shrink and we eventually loose strength. But one of the most overlooked aspects of our physical self is our mind. Even from the point at which we reach adulthood we begin to become set in our ways and our belief structure is in place.
We loose our sense of creativity and we know longer dream big. As we settle into our “life routine” we forget the ideas we had when we were young. I can remember a time when I was a teenager that I had the whole world in front of me. I wanted to do so many things and I ended up doing almost none of them. I lost my imagination and my ability to dream big.
Gradually through years of life experience some of us are fortunate to gain enough wisdom to see past our mere physical presence. When we realize that there really is more to the world and to physical life than we usually see, we begin to expand the world and our awareness of the beautiful existence we are in. Wisdom however, should not take years to acquire, at least not the all-knowing wisdom of our inner self.
Our greatest error is in life seems to be that we forget who we are. When we are just children the world is filled with endless possibilities but we forget those dreams. We are told that we are not good enough or that we are foolish to reach for the stars. If we recognize the error and we focus on our ability to change our own reality we begin to grow, not expire. Life begins anew, and the dreams we once had come alive within us.
We never lost our dreams or our imagination we simply forgot we had them. Our greatest asset is our ability to make this realization within our lifetime so that we can learn to use it to our advantage. This is what we call purpose. This is what we call meaning.
You have these tools within you now at this very moment. You have forgotten how to apply them. You have temporarily lost your ability to use your energy and your life-force to influence the world as you see fit. But the one thing to remember is that you can regain this ability in the realization that you are more than a lonely physical body. You have the same power that resides in every human being on this planet.
Your talent to create your own world is your key to building a life of unbounded potential. You don’t have to go very far to find this key either. You can begin to look inside your self and ask the questions that only you can answer. Only you decide where you go next. Only you have the key to your door. Realize that this is your chance to have everything that you’ve ever dreamed of and only you are stopping it from coming to you. Allow yourself to be free, let go or our worries. As the proverb says; “Not one shred of evidence supports the notion that life is serious”. Let go of all your prior beliefs and open up to your new life.
The shift to self awareness October 21, 2006

I have spent the past year studying, reading, watching and learning everything I can about quantum physics, metaphysics, religious teachings, atheism, spirituality, consciousness and anything else I can get my hands on in similar fields. I am not a scientist, preacher or scholar. I do not belong to any groups or organizations which promote any particular viewpoint about the world. I am a regular American citizen just like you. I do not consider myself an enlightened being or possibly even superior to anyone.
Over the past year my concern for the world state of affairs has set me on this path which I am now writing about. I have recently been in the process of studying the work of evolutionist, atheist & writer – Richard Dawkins. I will say first hand that I agree with Richard Dawkins emphatically when it comes to how our world and our species came about. Do not be quick to label me as an atheist however. As I said before, I am not aligned with any group or religion, or lack there of.
I think that to truly understand what science is telling us, we must make the effort to educate ourselves. Now I’m sure to most people studying monkeys or old fossils might seem boring and I would probably agree with you in that regard. But that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t at least make the attempt to continue learning and challenging your beliefs and assumptions. Doing so is actually very healthy.
My reasoning for talking about Mr. Dawkins is that I want everyone to understand that the transition from our current concepts about humanity and the world surely must continuously be challenged. However, the manor in which we engage in these discussions will most likely be touchy ground for the foreseeable future.
Many of us in the United States have been taught a base of Christian values from early childhood. Even those of us who do not or have not attended church still come from a Christian base without even knowing it. You can pick up any history book in any United States school and see that we measure history through past conquests which are mostly brought about because of religion. And I’m not just referring to Christianity either. Most religions have plundered history with crusades of one sort or the other. And today all of our children are being taught this stuff.
The turning point we all must face is that it will take individual effort from each one of us if we hope to survive as a race. This is certainly the age of reason. It is time to put down our old ideals about the world and start learning together. The first step in this process is through self awareness. Realizing our inner power to do better and be better as individuals and as a race is the key that will unlock the doors of hate, racism, greed, and other social problems. We do not need a religious icon or false ideal to see that in general people are good and that we can learn to live together without all the close minded constraints that we place on ourselves.
One way that we can start this transition is to be open minded about all theories, scientific research and provable ideas. We can debate without judgment or ridicule and open ourselves up to new ways of thinking. But we must first learn to control our own egos and the only way to achieve this is through self education. This may be an unheard cry to the masses but we have to start somewhere and I suggest we start today.
Quantum Physics tells us that the physical world is made up of endless possibilities and since we come from this Universe, we can also achieve great things if only we have the desire to do so. Your true potential is at your fingertips, all that is required is the desire to do something better for yourself. There are no limits except the ones you place upon your own life. Lack of money, time or experience are only excuses that hold you back from being the person you have always dreamed of being. We all have challenges in life and that should not be a reason to stop yourself from achieving a life of abundance. Only you can decide where you go tomorrow but it takes honest effort starting now.
What’s wrong with the Law of Attraction? September 27, 2006

Over the past few months I have had several personal revelations. I have written several articles about the Law of Attraction but it wasn’t until only recently that I discovered the one inherent flaw with the theory of “The Law of Attraction”. Like all theories, the law of attraction is simply just that, nothing more than a theory.
The flaw arises out of our need to have a theory in the first place. After all, isn’t our need to have a “life story” the reason why we are here? We constantly seek out new experiences. It is what physical humans do. Because we have an innate sense of needing a purpose, we rationalize this as being here to do something and yet that very thing we are here to do, we hide from.
So I suppose you could say the only flaw with the law of attraction is the same flaw with everything. Everything in this world is dualistic. It’s either this way or that way. My concern is the belief that there is only one way of absolute truth and when you are fed the “truth” by someone else you are in fact living your life through their eyes.
People believe that without a purpose and a set of morals we would be absolutely insane and yet deep down inside we do share a moral conscious. We do care about other humans. We share the joys and pains together and it’s our mutual empathy that has evolved into who we are today. The fact that we can each share pain and make ourselves have feelings towards another human being whom we have never met is surely a sign that we are in fact all connected. That is why we feel sad when we hear the news that Princess Diana has been killed or even the crocodile hunter. We experience these feelings of pain because we are somehow connected.
We do not need a “theory” of life, we only think we do. Many people believe that without a God there would be no rules. We believe there would be chaos in the streets and yet we ignore that in fact there already is chaos in the streets. Our desire to have a purpose only drives our insanity into a never ending egoic journey from which we never seem to be able to escape.
If I had to say what I thought my purpose would be, I would say that it is the power of intent that drives all of us. We create our life through our intent. Following an idea or belief is only good for the sake of following an idea or belief. I’ve heard the phrase “Faith without works is dead” and it’s true! It takes a lot of work being alive right? So our true purpose is finding faith in whatever we choose and then going with the flow. I don’t care if you believe in the law of attraction, I only care that I live my life to its fullest extent with true conscious intent. So if you ask my advice I say just go with the flow, decide what your next step in life will be and follow through with it. Then when you wake up tomorrow, start all over again.
